general update

This place has been pretty quiet recently as I haven't had much to report except the normal stack-by-stack clearing of paperwork and clutter in my office.

I'm also scheduled for a pretty major surgery in early January 2014 (just slightly over a month away now) that will render me "down" for a couple of weeks (and healing is expected to take anywhere between 3 months to a year, hopefully with no complications in between). My life schedule currently revolves around the surgery, so work has been crazy as I have been trying to squeeze out as much as I can from myself to prepare for the time next year that I won't be able to give as much energy as I usually do to the business.

The December period, however, is my usual end-of-year springcleaning time as I prepare to make space for the new year ahead. And I suppose that these two weeks, with my mum (who loves hoarding everything :() out of town, it is an opportune time to work with Y to get things out of the house.

Office, Home, and E-cleaning... I wish I had more time!

@online: amazing things happen when you set your mind to it

Yes, I didn't know I actually had a box with over 28,000 mails!
And here's the springcleaning report from the other mailboxes:

Personal Gmail (Was: 283, Now: 109) (Change: -174)
Work Gmail (Was: 407, Now: 146) (Change: -260)
Work Intramail (Was: 1393, Now: 1130) (Change: -263)
Work Sales Intramail: Was: 383, Now: 383 ) (Change: 0)
Work Marketing Intramail: (Was: 263, Now: 254) (Change: -7)
Work YahooMail (Was: 205, Now: 143) (Change: -62)
SPCG Mail (Was: 51, Now: 0) (Change: -51)

Target Change: - 1500
Current Net Change: - 817

Keep in mind that all these mailboxes are active (that means that they had daily additional mails coming in that weren't accounted for), plus I didn't include checking through spam folders, clearing out trash bins, as well as other archiving, I'm pretty certain that I have technically already achieved my target for the week. But being the generally anal person about targets, I'm still going to try to hit a solid figure of deleting/clearing/archiving 1500 emails by tomorrow evening. :)

@e-cleaning

Yay!!!
I've achieved my 16.8K iPhotos target for the week (meaning I've cleared away at least 500 pics)!

It's amazing how giving oneself little achievable goals can make a big difference. :) I paced myself to clear anywhere between 50-100 photos a day, but I suppose when you're on a springcleaning roll, you don't really keep track whether you've hit 50 photos and just keep going! (It's a little like how trainers tend to tell you some small "ten more, five more, one mile more" sort of targets at the end of the set to stretch you. And gosh did it make a difference!

It's been a really busy week with lots of meetings and training, and yet I've been able to accomplish some of what I set out to do! And tomorrow, I'll be back in office to do some major decluttering - especially of my emails! Can't wait!

And yes, I've decided that cleaning my laptop is not equivalent to "online" so I've kind of "rebranded" the clearing of electronic files to a more accurate "e-cleaning" category. :)
